Top facilities, pricey, occasional management issues

I toured and ultimately chose this place because the facilities are top-of-the-line - gorgeous architecture, multilevel campus with cottages, sweeping Blue Ridge views, salt-water therapeutic pool, on-site PT, gym, library and a full calendar of activities. The dining is excellent, the grounds and common areas are beautifully maintained, and most direct-care staff and residents are warm, attentive and community-minded. It's not perfect: it's remote and pricey (hefty entrance fee and monthly rent), I saw billing/financial hiccups, some maintenance delays, and a few managers (including nursing leadership) were unresponsive or rude. Overall I'm impressed and feel safe and cared for, but buyers should watch contracts, expect steep costs, and be aware of occasional management/staffing issues at higher care levels.
