    Friendly staff, clean facility, affordable

I moved my mom here and feel at ease - the staff are exceptionally friendly, caring and attentive, and the facility is clean and beautifully decorated. Meals are healthy, delicious and accommodate diets, and there are lots of engaging activities, exercise options and pleasant common areas (porch, patio, library, bar) that keep residents active. Apartments are comfortable with several room options and recent remodels, though a few rooms are small and there are some small steps/hallways to watch for. Month-to-month pricing with no large entrance fee made it affordable, and it has given our out-of-town family real peace of mind.

About Commonwealth Senior Living At Stratford House

Commonwealth Senior Living at Stratford House is a senior living community located in Danville's Historic District, right across from Danville Regional Medical Center, that offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and respite care, so folks can get the right care for their needs as they change over time, and the Sweet Memories™ program helps residents with Alzheimer's and dementia feel safe and as comfortable as possible. The building stands out with its grand columns, a striking cupola, and flags, and inside you'll find living rooms with soft lighting, fireplaces, bookshelves, and big windows that bring in plenty of natural light, along with a dining room with elegant tables, fresh flowers, and chandeliers, where meals are served restaurant-style with attention to dietary needs, and there's a farm-to-table dining program that uses fresh, local ingredients, which is nice when people care about the food they eat. The staff at Stratford House takes care of maintenance, housekeeping, cooking, and laundry, and licensed nurses are on call 24/7, with emergency response systems throughout, so people can feel secure round the clock, and support is always close by for medication, bathing, dressing, and other daily activities. The apartments come in many different floor plans, including studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, some furnished and some not, all with private bathrooms, and some that let people bring their small pets, cats or dogs under 25 pounds, if that makes them feel more at home, and there are also private and companion suites. Residents can use cable or satellite TV, Wi-Fi, and each unit has an emergency call system, and the community covers all utilities except phone and cable TV. For fun and connection, the activity team has daily programs, trips, and events, there's an in-house movie theater, a library, a Sweet Memories Neighborhood for memory care residents, and the SingFit program uses music to lift spirits and help people connect. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with walking paths, a calm pond with a footbridge, and spaces to sit outside or enjoy the garden, plus there's a beauty salon, barber shop, exercise room, and pet-friendly areas, and the inside common areas offer soft seating, built-in bookshelves, a fireplace, and a big TV, so there's always a spot for socializing or relaxing. Stratford House provides transportation for errands and events, and has a resource directory with links and guides on topics like caregiving, veterans benefits, health, and housing; the staff helps connect folks with these resources through VirginiaNavigator and other related programs. Weekly housekeeping and linen services, as well as utilities, are managed by the staff to keep things simple for everyone, and the building was designed to make both everyday living and transitions between care levels as smooth as possible to avoid disruptions and worries for both residents and their families. The community allows for both active living and increased support, depending on what someone needs, with friendly staff who get to know the residents and a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere that lets people find their own pace and way to spend the day, whether alone or in good company.
