Parkside of Livonia is a 55+ senior living community with 104 one- and two-bedroom apartments that come with full-size kitchens, private patios or balconies, and cable and internet access, and people can also choose semi-private and single-room units depending on what they need, and they keep things accessible for everyone with options for accessible units as well. Residents have easy living without having to worry about maintenance, and there's a good amount of indoor and outdoor common areas like patios, gardens, an elegant lobby with a baby grand piano for sitting and talking, and a community room where activities get held. The place runs all sorts of programs and events, like bingo, barbecues, potlucks, and music activities, and there's also a resident music group, so folks stay active and social, and if you're into crafts or hobbies, there's a full craft room too, plus a movie theater and a fitness center where you can do yoga or chair yoga, and they even offer haircuts and barber services on site. The community calendar brings in tabletop games, outings, and recreational events, with staff there to help everyone join in, and they've got a wellness center, laundry, a mail area, storage facilities, and a business center if anyone needs it, plus the computer room lets people use the internet on site if they want to. Medical care stays close at hand with an on-site physician, nurses both full-time and 24 hours, and podiatry visits available, and for people who need more help, they provide assisted living, memory care, and continuing care services, and there's actually a range of care options that stretch from home care to respite care and care homes, which means people can get more support as their needs change. Safety matters too, with controlled building access, guest and resident parking, and a community bus service for transportation. The community doesn't allow large dogs or birds, but some pets are welcome. The location itself has a peaceful view with lots of greenery, walking and hiking areas outside, and a general sense of calm. People speak different languages there, including English, and inside, the newly remodeled areas feel fresh, from the shared spaces with TVs to the private dining room and the hair salon, so there's always somewhere to go or something to do, while residents keep their independence and dignity with support from specialized staff and tailored care plans. Renters pay with credit card or check, and Veterans Aid benefits are accepted for those who qualify.
Clean peaceful senior community; pet-friendly
I live here and overall I'm very pleased: the building and grounds are clean, bright and well-kept, apartments are comfortable with patios/balconies, and staff are friendly, professional and usually responsive. It's quiet and peaceful, pet-friendly, with lots of amenities and activities (bingo, outings, fitness, theater, library) plus bus service to shopping and banking. Management generally listens, maintenance is prompt most of the time, though communication can be uneven and more outdoor lighting/dedicated pet areas would be nice. I'd recommend it for active seniors looking for a safe, welcoming community.
