ONEgeneration, a nonprofit that started in 1978, has two main locations, one at 17400 Victory Boulevard in Van Nuys and another at 18255 Victory Boulevard in Reseda, and both places offer a mix of adult daycare, child care, and intergenerational programs where older adults and young children spend time together, so you'll often see seniors and kids sharing stories or working on art and dancing or even just playing together, and there's also kinship support for grandparents raising kids. The staff have experience caring for people who have Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, post-stroke disabilities, and different forms of memory problems, and the adult daycare and health center runs activities like arts and crafts, exercise groups, pet therapy, live music, and meals, while meals are nutritious and served hot, with both group dining and a home delivery service for seniors who can't leave home, serving more than 66,000 meals every year at their centers and delivering over 78,000 to homebound seniors.
The Senior Enrichment Center in Reseda, open on weekdays from 9 to 5, offers classes, support groups, and places to visit with friends, and the dining centers work across several communities like Canoga Park, Woodland Hills, North Hills, and the City of San Fernando. There's a certified-organic Encino Farmers Market every Sunday from 8am to 1pm, and it's become a regular spot for locals for over 15 years, and the money made from the market helps run ONEgeneration's other programs. They offer transportation to medical appointments, groceries, and vital services, so folks who struggle to get out can still look after themselves, and care managers help with bathing, grocery shopping, and housekeeping for more than 1,500 seniors. The program also has mentoring and skills-building for at-risk youth, support for pregnant and parenting teens, and education about pregnancy prevention.
The childcare and preschool services are accredited by the NAEYC, starting with infants as young as six weeks and running programs up to age 6, covering subjects like science, language arts, cooking, and creative movement, and they make a point of bringing kids and seniors together. The adult day services are accredited by the Center for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and the staff keep a close eye on health conditions and medications. Indoor parking is available for visitors, and the campus sits near Lake Balboa and Anthony C. Beilenson Park, giving it some outdoor space for relaxing or walking. Programs aim to help people live independently, so they focus on health, social activities, caregiver support, and even resources for housing and hunger, and their services support a diverse community, including Korean- and Spanish-speaking seniors at the Reseda location. The group runs with support from over 300 volunteers, and many programs help people facing homelessness or looking for affordable housing. ONEgeneration uses basic technology connections for things like Meta and Facebook features, and information is available in many languages to match the community's needs. The whole organization believes in connecting younger and older generations in a safe, active setting that supports families and helps people stay strong in mind and body.
