College Walk Retirement Ctr DUP in Brevard, NC, offers several living choices like independent living if folks want to stay active and social without the hassle of chores, and assisted living for those needing some help with dressing, bathing, or medicine, and the staff known for being joyful and helpful, they try to keep a friendly place no matter what care people need. They've made their community easy to get around for seniors and added special touches to help with comfort, including places to sit together, rooms for events, and meal services where cooks prepare healthy and tasty meals with good ingredients. They also provide residential care homes in shared neighborhoods for those who need a live-in caregiver to help with daily routines, and there are specialized care options with 24-hour nurse and personal care for people with more physical or mental health challenges. The memory care area is set up to keep folks with Alzheimer's or dementia safe and lower confusion, with designs that help stop wandering. Trained aides are on hand for home care, too, giving company and non-medical help to people staying in their own homes. Residents get to take part in activities every day, things like games, crafts, and exercise to keep bodies moving and minds busy, and the center has a mix of health, wellness, and support services made just for the needs of seniors, so everyone has options that match their situation and care needs. College Walk Retirement Ctr DUP uses its own names for services and spaces, giving the place a sense of community that stands out.
Upscale amenities, cruel sudden eviction
I chose this community for my dad and at first it was wonderful - upscale amenities, great food, attentive dining staff, helpful caregivers and lots of social activities. But when his health declined they abruptly told us to move by the end of the day with under three hours' notice; administration was cold, uncompassionate and failed to ensure a safe transition despite promises of compassionate care. If your loved one needs only independent or light support, I'd recommend a visit; if you expect increasing medical needs, beware.
