      About Ocean Ridge Plantation

Ocean Ridge Plantation sits between Wilmington, North Carolina, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with Sunset Beach just minutes away, and people tend to like the winding roads, sidewalks, and the way the neighborhoods are set up with woodlands, lakes, and fairways right outside. There are about 500 homes already built by custom home builders, and eventually, nearly 3,000 are planned, with a wide variety of home styles like European, Mediterranean, Lowcountry, French Country, and traditional American brick, and a person could build a smaller single-level home, a multifamily unit, or something much larger, because there are lots ranging from about a fifth of an acre to more than an acre, with prices starting under $100,000 for those who want to build later, and properties for sale anywhere from 500 to over 5,000 square feet, including a few that have up to 60 bedrooms and bathrooms, which shows there's a real range. People will find custom homes built by Mark Saunders Luxury Homes and other local builders, and there's even an in-house team for building if someone wants design help.

Over 100 community social and special interest clubs keep people busy, along with more than 50 active organizations, so residents might join gardening, dining, book, or fitness clubs, and the social infrastructure seems strong, and while not everybody joins in, there's certainly a lot going on for those interested. The Plantation Club serves as a main hub, providing a lounge, state-of-the-art fitness center, sauna, lagoon-view swimming pool, indoor heated pool, and tennis courts, and residents use the walking and bicycling paths connecting neighborhoods, including to a 300-acre nature preserve full of local birds and wildlife. On top of that, there's the Plantation Gardens, where people get together to grow vegetables and flowers, and a nature park with a pavilion, so there's no shortage of places to walk, visit with neighbors, or enjoy the outdoors, and a four-acre fishing pond for those who like to fish without driving far.

Golf is a big draw, since Ocean Ridge Plantation is home to four championship-level golf courses known as the Big Cats-Tiger's Eye, Leopard's Chase, Panther's Run, and Lion's Paw-and they also plan to add the Jaguar's Lair Golf Course, all with different layouts and views. There are two golf clubhouses with dining rooms, award-winning pro shops, golf learning centers, and practice facilities, so both beginners and serious golfers end up spending a lot of their time out there, and guests can stop for a meal at The Tammer's Restaurant or The Tiger's Eye Grill. People can enjoy swimming in several pools, including the resort-style pool or indoor pool at The Plantation Club, or play tennis and pickleball on available courts, and the community also operates as a sports club, with dining and shopping amenities on site.

A private Beach Club sits right on Sunset Beach, featuring three stories with views of the ocean, changing rooms, and gathering spaces, meaning residents can spend the day by the water without worrying about crowds, and one could just as easily walk or bike to the community's other parks and open spaces. The neighborhoods have both new and established homes, and property for sale comes in all shapes and sizes, with some offering boat slips and acreage up to 100 acres, but some homesites have stipulations, short sales, or foreclosures, and all building plans require checks and approval from the master community, which can change things at the developer's discretion.

Security's on hand with a 24-hour gated entrance, and there's an on-site team focused on real estate within Ocean Ridge Plantation for questions about homes or tours, with virtual and private options both available. The masterplan shows attractive neighborhoods, community maps, and possible future features, but everything shown is conceptual and subject to change. The Ridge Center & Campus adds to the choices for social and physical activities. The community's known for combining an elegant country club setting with coastal living, and people tend to find the landscaping well kept and the atmosphere welcoming. Ocean Ridge Plantation has gained national attention and won recognition as a top community in magazines like Living Southern Style and Where to Retire, but it's always best for someone to visit, since every community has strengths and a few trade-offs.
