      About Myrtle Trace

Myrtle Trace is a well-established 55+ retirement community located between Myrtle Beach and Conway, South Carolina. Nestled in a serene setting carved out of a lush pine forest, the community consists of 518 homes, each designed to provide comfort and ease for active retirees. The picturesque landscape is characterized by stately tall pines and fifteen sparkling small lakes scattered throughout the neighborhood. Over 40% of the homes have tranquil lakefront views, while many others back onto wooded areas or the inviting fairways of Burning Ridge Golf Club. Wildlife such as rabbits, squirrels, ducks, fish, turtles, and a variety of birds enrich the natural environment, creating a peaceful retreat for residents.

The residences in Myrtle Trace are primarily free-standing, single-level, two- or three-bedroom homes set on lots of approximately one-eighth of an acre. Most homes in Phases I through VII feature charming cedar siding with brick facades on the front, while the 114 homes in Phase VIII are finished with low-maintenance vinyl siding. The community was thoughtfully developed in eight distinct sections, or phases, with construction commencing in the early 1980s and culminating in 2005. Although predominantly made up of single-family homes, there are also a handful of eight townhouses within the community.

Myrtle Trace boasts a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere, with a wide range of amenities and social activities designed to foster connections and an active lifestyle. At the heart of the community is a clubhouse equipped for games, gatherings, and parties, featuring a fully equipped kitchen and a lending library. Outdoor recreation is plentiful, with a saltwater swimming pool, bocce ball, shuffleboard court, horseshoe pits, and an outdoor basketball court available for residents. The Activities Committee organizes numerous activities, such as potluck dinners, movie nights, bingo, ice cream socials, holiday parties, and an array of games including dominoes, scrabble, bridge, mahjong, poker, canasta, line dancing, and chorus groups. There is also a bowling league and a Garden Club for those who enjoy spending time outdoors and socializing with neighbors.

Convenience is a hallmark of life at Myrtle Trace. The community is ideally situated just off U.S. Route 501 and 544, providing easy access to everyday essentials. Major shopping destinations including grocery stores, pharmacies, home improvement outlets, and restaurants are within a short drive, as well as a large regional indoor mall in Myrtle Beach. Excellent medical facilities, such as Conway Medical Center and accompanying specialist offices, are within half a mile, making healthcare accessible and reassuring for residents.

For those interested in education and cultural enrichment, Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College are just a couple of miles away. Many residents volunteer, attend classes, or enjoy the cultural and athletic programs offered at these nearby campuses. With its proximity to Myrtle Beach, residents also benefit from the coastal lifestyle, with beautiful beaches, numerous golf courses, and a vibrant array of restaurants and entertainment venues just minutes away.

Myrtle Trace operates under a homeowner-elected Board of Directors and does not use an outside management company. Committees including the Property Committee, Architectural Review Committee, Activities Committee, and Communications Committee oversee the management, upkeep, and organization of community events and communication. Myrtle Trace remains an inviting, covenant-restricted retirement community dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through well-maintained amenities, social engagement, and a beautiful natural environment.
