    Good start, deteriorated into neglect

I chose this facility because the first weeks were great - clean, pleasant rooms near the nurses' station, nice dining area, and excellent early therapy - but it deteriorated into a nightmare. Staff were clearly understaffed, meals became inconsistent or neglected, therapy stopped or was delayed, and my loved one was left in soiled clothes/linen and ignored when buzzed, with long waits for bathroom help. Communication and charting were unreliable; staff failed to notify the doctor about an infection that put the resident at serious risk. Some nurses and therapists were kind and attentive, but the inconsistency, hygiene problems, and poor management responsiveness mean I cannot recommend it.

About English Oaks Convalescent & Rehabilitation Hospita

English Oaks Convalescent & Rehabilitation Hospital offers many care options in one place, and the campus has 180 certified beds, so there's space for different levels of support, from skilled nursing and rehabilitation, to assisted living and memory care, to behavioral health and mental health rehabilitation, and even adult residential care, so people can get help with what they specifically need, and they don't have to move elsewhere as their needs change, and there are programs for substance recovery, respite stays, stroke rehabilitation, wound care, IV therapy, dialysis, diabetes management, and ongoing support for chronic illnesses like COPD, CHF, and renal disease, which really helps folks who need long-term or short-term care or even hospice. RNs and other staff provide 12-16 hours of direct daily care with a 24-hour call system, and there's supervision and help with daily things like bathing, dressing, taking medicine, and getting around, and even transfers for people who can't walk by themselves, so residents never have to worry about being left alone if they need help. The place has all the basics taken care of, like housecleaning, laundry, and fresh meals cooked every day by a professional chef, and they pay attention to special diets if that's necessary, and all meals, baked goods, and fresh soups are made there and can be eaten in your room, in the dining room, outside, or during group activities, including special social or therapeutic meals, which makes things a bit more enjoyable. You'll find a library, arts and crafts rooms, a game room, outdoor walking paths and gardens, fitness rooms, and a movie theater right on the property, so there's always something happening, whether that's resident-run activities, movie nights, music, or just a quiet moment on the community patio or at a garden event, and people can get out into the fresh air on park-like grounds, or use the spa, get a haircut for a fee, or grab a book on tape if reading's tough. Rooms are comfortable and include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, a telephone, and they come furnished, so moving in is less stressful, and for those who like their own things, there's room to add a few personal touches too. Nursing care is always available day and night, and the staff includes respiratory therapists and people trained to help with voice and swallowing therapy, as well as perceptual skills, arthritis, neurological care, aphasia, and prosthetic training, so specialized needs get attention along with basic care. There's help planning what happens after you leave, along with outpatient therapy if needed, and every resident gets personalized attention, with all the important medical services under the same roof. For many people and their families, it's a relief to have this level of care and support together, in a setting that's been made to look and feel pleasant, and the whole place is run by Generations Healthcare. Virtual tours let new residents see everything before they move in, and there's an emphasis on kindness and good service from the staff, who try to treat everyone with respect and compassion, and there are plenty of patient-centered activities each day, both in rooms and in groups, with transportation for community outings so boredom's less likely. Parking and safety details are in place, there's an emergency alert system, daily activities, and a focus on making things both safe and comfortable for everyone who stays.
