    Trustworthy care, beautiful facility, recommended

I feel my dad is in very good hands here. Staff are professional, capable and thorough - the therapy unit is one I trust. The facility is beautiful and convenient, with lovely gardens (Master Gardeners volunteer), aquariums and aviaries, good food and varied activities like Bingo, baseball, live music and nail-polish day. Better than expected; I would definitely recommend.

About Lapeer County Medical Care Facility

Lapeer County Medical Care Facility's front entrance holds two special displays, one wall honoring Veterans and another showing appreciation for staff, making you feel the importance of both community and long-time employees, and you'll see that with the staff of about 325 people, including nurses, certified nurse aides, kitchen, and housekeeping staff, some who've been there for more than 30 years, and that says something about their commitment. The place focuses on skilled nursing, therapy, and rehab for people coming out of the hospital, with a mission to help residents live as fully and independently as possible, giving competent medical attention, social activities, and friendship in a setting that's meant to feel like home and family-but guided by values like unity, compassion, and respect, you'll notice they strive for a family-like atmosphere.

The facility is known for long-term care, especially for people with chronic conditions, Alzheimer's, or dementia, with a 32-bed secure Dementia Unit that offers special programs just for Alzheimer's residents, and the floors there have been redone to help make things calmer and more comfortable. Over the years, they've upgraded things, like putting in a new roof and new floors in common areas, and now in most rooms you can get monthly phone service for $30, which is a lot cheaper than before. You get a choice of 106 private rooms or 48 semi-private rooms, totaling 202 beds, and there's a serenity room, beauty shop, maintained grounds, and laundry service, along with a Social Service Department.

There are many services on-site, like podiatry, dental, vision, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, most accepting Medicare and Medicaid, plus restorative nursing solutions, personal care, and maintenance. They're prepared for emergencies 24/7, have staff that can help with bathing, dressing, and meals, and trained nurses handle wound care, medication management, recovery after surgery, and chronic health problems. Lapeer County Medical Care Facility serves both temporary and long-term care needs, with strong rehabilitation programs, and accepts Medicare, Medicaid, Private Pay, and other insurance. Their approach is to tailor care to each person's needs and preferences, including making special diets and offering palliative and hospice care to bring comfort and dignity for those facing serious illness.

A unique feature is the Suncrest Child Care Center and Preschool right on the grounds, holding a license to serve children from two weeks to about seven years of age, which brings a sense of liveliness to the place, and a physician group leases a wing with an X-Ray department. Over the years, the facility has received awards, like the National Association of Geriatric Nursing Assistants Facility of the Year and the Governor's quality of care award, and it's designated as an Eden alternative facility, which means they try to keep the environment more like a real home, not just institutional.

They keep up a Facebook page to connect with the community, and you can see that their long history of over 50 years, experienced staff, and their drive to constantly improve-all while remaining focused on care for those with serious health conditions-gives them a well-established place in Lapeer County, serving those who need both skilled nursing and day-to-day support in a respectful, secure setting.
