    Excellent staff, activities; rooms outdated

I appreciate the excellent, caring staff and therapists and the nonstop activities — ceramics, painting, movie nights, bingo, bands and fireworks. The building is very clean, but rooms are outdated, tiny and often shared; staff turnover means I sometimes have to repeat requests because of hearing issues. Food is disappointing. Overall great care and activities, but rooms and meals need improvement.

    About Monroe Community Hospital

Monroe Community Hospital sits on a peaceful 22-acre campus along the Erie Canal in Rochester, New York, where it's been caring for people for more than 190 years, and you'll find that they take all kinds of folks, from babies just a few weeks old all the way up to folks past their hundredth birthdays, with over 566 people living there and getting care that covers a wide range of needs like skilled nursing, pediatric long-term care, rehabilitation, and special units like those for Alzheimer's and dementia or for people who need help with breathing in their ventilator unit. The new Palliative Care & Hospice Center, which has 25 beds in a 17,000-square foot space, gives extra comfort for those who need it, and they've got plenty of other support like a pastoral care team for spiritual needs, a social work department, and a full activities calendar that includes music, gardening, crafts, and pet therapy, since it's important for folks to have things to look forward to, especially when you can go out and visit little shops like the Boutique thrift shop or Tapestry gift shop or grab something from the café menu with family or visitors. Being the largest provider of skilled nursing services in upstate New York means Monroe Community Hospital has a lot of different wings-the Faith and Friendship units, as well as specialty places like the Rehabilitation Center focused on recovery from strokes, illness, or injury, and specialty therapy for complex or neurological disabilities, plus a dedicated pediatric program for young ones who need long-term or complex care. They keep things up to date with renovations and have volunteer opportunities for anyone wanting to help out, along with fundraising events that connect to the wider community, and you can see right on their ratings that the hospital gets 2 Stars for Resident Care, 4 Stars for Staffing, and 3 Stars for Health Inspections from Medicare & Medicaid, which adds up to an overall score of 3 Stars, showing that while Monroe Community Hospital is a busy place with many kinds of care-from hospice and long-term stays to help with breathing or therapy after surgery-they're working steadily to look after people of every age and keep up with what the community needs, always aiming to provide steady and reliable care from Monroe County, continuing the long tradition of doing their best for every resident each day.
