    Poor care, unresponsive staff, avoid

I stayed 2½ weeks as a wheelchair user. The facility is very clean, the food looked appetizing, and some staff were caring and helped with 24-hour bathing and occasional activities like bingo. But my physical therapy was poor or not provided as promised, staff were sometimes unresponsive/absent, records showed refused treatments, and I was readmitted to the hospital with pneumonia risk after discharge. Reception was nice until paperwork. Of three places I tried, this is the one I'd warn others to avoid.

About Conover Nursing And Rehab Center

Conover Nursing And Rehab Center sits at 920 4th Street SW in Conover, North Carolina, and has been family-owned and operated since 2002, so you're likely to feel a homelike atmosphere because it's not part of a big chain, and people say you can see the family feel when residents, staff, and caregivers interact, and they really do try to foster a positive, relaxed community where everybody knows each other. The center has 90 skilled nursing beds and focuses on both long-term care and rehabilitation, so you'll find support with things like recovering from hip or knee surgeries, stroke, cardiac rehabilitation, or other illnesses and injuries, and people get individualized care that tries to meet their personal needs, with services like medication management, help with bathing and dressing, assistance with transfers, and round-the-clock supervision, and you know there's a 24-hour call system plus 12 to 16 hours of daily nursing care available, which feels reassuring. The team provides state-of-the-art rehabilitative therapy, and many have noticed that they use advanced rehabilitation technology to help residents recover quickly and comfortably, so you see folks appreciating the therapy staff's support after hospital stays, illness, or surgery. Conover Nursing And Rehab Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid, which takes off some financial strain for families. All the rooms come furnished and include private bathrooms, cable TV, a kitchenette, telephone, air conditioning, and high-speed internet, so you get some comfort and privacy. Residents have access to a fitness room, wellness room, spa, sauna, and plenty of common areas indoors and outdoors, and you'll spot a blooming resident garden where people can go anytime they want for therapy or to just relax, plus walking paths that get used especially on nice days, and there's a dedicated communication board where folks leave notes or messages. Community life stays active, with scheduled daily activities, social programs like movie nights and music events, and even resident-run activities if people want to start something new. For transportation, the center has its own transportation service and parking, so residents make it to appointments or outings with less trouble, and many appreciate the community-sponsored activities that draw everyone together. Other amenities include a library, arts and activity rooms, a business room if you need one, and outdoor spaces to enjoy fresh air. Medication management, assistance with activities of daily living, and support after surgeries or illnesses are all part of the skilled nursing care provided. The center puts focus on a smooth recovery and a worry-free environment, and staying family-owned helps keep things personal and comfortable for most residents. Todd Roper serves as administrator, and they belong to the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association, so there's a bit of structure and oversight to lean on.
