    About Mohun Healthcare Center

Mohun Healthcare Center sits over on Columbus' east side, pretty close to I-670, Port Columbus Airport, Ohio Dominican University, and right near the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse, and it's got 72 beds in four levels that were fully remodeled back in 1995, making for a mix of state-of-the-art features and a comfortable, homelike atmosphere, and you'll find large private rooms that come fully furnished with a hospital bed, easy chair, desk, nightstand, dresser, built-in closet, and private bathrooms fitted with handicap-accessible tubs and showers, air conditioning, cable TV, telephone, and Wi-Fi, not to mention updated HVAC that brings in all outside air for fresh ventilation. The place has a bit of everything when it comes to care, offering physical, speech, and occupational therapy, memory care in a dedicated Special Care Unit for those with Alzheimer's or memory issues, wound care, surgery services, dental, optometry, podiatry, pastoral care, and skilled nursing with assistance for bathing, dressing, medication management, and transfers, which helps both residents who walk and those who need extra help moving around, plus there's a 24-hour call system and emergency alert response so safety's always front and center. Residents get help from a staff of 120, including Sisters, and receive personalized care plans as they settle in, with coordination and concierge services making moves smoother for new arrivals, and for people who want to stay active, there's an exercise pool, whirlpool, fitness room, and plenty of wellness programs, as well as maintained gardens, outdoor spaces, and walking paths to enjoy when the weather's good. Meals get prepared by a professional chef, and dietary help comes from a licensed dietitian, all while the housekeeping, laundry, and general maintenance keep things clean and tidy, and for those who want to focus on enjoyment, there are arts and crafts rooms, a library, game room, a community theater for movie nights, and ongoing social activities with access to the Columbus Public Library Mobile Unit rolling in now and then. The chapel's wheelchair accessible and even has a balcony for folks with limited mobility, while pastoral care supports the spiritual side, especially for vowed and ordained Sisters, Priests, and Nuns, as it's a ministry founded by the Dominican Sisters of Peace, and their tradition shows up in the day-to-day care and community life. The center takes in both short-term and long-term residents, offers skilled and respite or palliative care, and brings on-site visits from doctors, dentists, optometrists, and podiatrists. The place earned a 3 out of 3 rating for long-term care from US News and World Report, it holds full licensing and certification, and it got a Platinum Seal from GuideStar/Candid. The administrator is April Queener, OPA, and the building honors Mother Stephanie Mohun, OP, so there's a strong sense of tradition here along with modern health care and services for a wide range of needs, all delivered in a straightforward, compassionate way without too much fuss.
