    Loved care deteriorated, traumatic eviction

I placed my bed-bound, blind, immobile, dying mom at what I thought was the best in Knoxville because of the high staff-to-resident ratio, personalized meals/activities, and a caring staff who treated residents like family. For years she was loved, respected and received peaceful, quality care from excellent people - but after a key caregiver's death the care declined sharply and they ultimately evicted her, causing traumatic transfer. They don't accept Medicaid/Medicare and aren't required to follow federal nursing-home laws; I'm grateful for the good years but warn others about the recent decline.

About The Nursing Center at Little Creek

The Nursing Center at Little Creek sits in a peaceful setting, carrying a longtime reputation for compassionate care since 1940, and it stands out for its nonprofit mission, helping support various charity causes. The center focuses on elder care with a strong emphasis on resident safety, offering both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation for those who need time to recover before going home from the hospital, and residents who are very frail or need more help can find skilled nursing, nursing home, and intermediate care services. Apartments come in different sizes-one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and even four-bedroom units-and you can find rental choices that include apartments, condos, townhomes, and even single-family homes, many of which are pet-friendly for those who want to keep a furry companion nearby, though details about parking and utilities aren't available. Residents have access to meal preparation that can fit special dietary needs, such as options for people with allergies or diabetes, and the dining rooms, furnished spaces, kitchen, and the three-course lunch looking out over flower gardens all help create a pleasant place to share meals, with menu choices like homemade soups, hot and cold breakfasts, salads, and desserts. The facility doesn't have a long list of luxury amenities like pools, gyms, or private patios, but it does make sure residents can walk in garden paths, spend time in arts rooms, enjoy visits to an on-site full-service hair salon or barber, and take part in animal therapy from the Human-Animal Bond in Tennessee program. Housekeeping and free daily laundry, even for all linens, are included to make daily life easier, and there are regular activities like Movie Mondays, weekly Bingo, sing-alongs, arts and crafts, group games, reading, and plenty of events that residents themselves help run.

The staff offers 24-hour supervision, skilled nursing, and help with medication, bathing, dressing, transfers, and daily activities, so people who need support or non-ambulatory care aren't left out, and families appreciate the emergency alert system and around-the-clock call support. Rehabilitation includes personalized therapies like physical, occupational, and speech therapy that work on things such as posture mechanics, all available with a doctor's order through Centerwell Home Health. There's even a relaxing Cascade Spa Bath for those who need it. The center also has mental health services with psychiatric care and clinic visits from physicians. Residents benefit from nonprofit resources, education, and CNA training programs for staff, supporting a team that knows the needs of older adults. The focus remains on providing a welcoming, safe place where residents and their families feel cared for and respected, with some extra touches like book readings, animal visits, and garden strolls helping make each day more pleasant. Those who want to visit or tour the community will find the staff ready to answer questions and show what daily living is like. The Nursing Center at Little Creek joins with the Tennessee Health Care Association and keeps its doors open for people wanting steady support, nutritious food, and a warm environment, all in a setting that values both dignity and comfort.
