    Excellent caregiving, poor administration overall

I'm torn. The hands-on care is excellent-kind, knowledgeable caregivers and med techs, 24-hour staff, good meals and a warm, family-like dining/amenity area in comfortable, affordable apartments. But administration is chaotic and sometimes unprofessional: unreachable phones, billing and medication errors, high turnover and occasional lack of activities/compassion from office staff. Overall my relative gets good daily care, but the administrative problems make it a risky choice unless you can tolerate a low-budget, older facility.

    About Greenfields Assisted Living

Greenfields Assisted Living sits at 723 East 2nd Avenue, Mesa, Arizona, as part of the Greenfields Retirement Community and it accommodates adults 62 and older in a large, well-maintained space that isn't new but is always kept up nicely, you know, and they say you can see grass, mature trees, and covered patios around the common areas, which makes for a comfortable setting where people can unwind inside or out. The community provides a mix of living options, offering assisted living, independent living, senior apartments, memory care, and short-term respite care, so folks needing a bit of help with daily things like clothing, washing up, getting around, or remembering medicines can get support to suit their needs, but there are also units with outside doors for people wanting a blend of privacy and security, and staff is around 24 hours to help out with emergencies or daily support, and you'll notice nurses on staff, visiting podiatrists, doctors on call, and different therapy services-from speech and physical to occupational-plus health services for diabetic care, incontinence, and non-ambulatory residents needing lifts.

People who need memory care or have more advanced support needs can join behavioral health groups and get both counseling and therapy, but the general feeling stays friendly and welcoming, with staff said to be kind, patient, and practical, making it easy for most folks to settle in. There are both studio, one-bedroom, semi-private, and two-bedroom units, and meal options include vegetarian choices prepared by on-site cooks, so residents don't have to fuss around with cooking on their own. Meals get served in a communal dining room to bring folks together, but there's also a TV lounge, book room, recreation rooms, a beauty and barber shop, a swimming pool and hot tub, and a country store tucked inside the grounds-plus gardens for fresh air walks.

Greenfields includes planned daily activities that can mean arts and crafts, music or animal therapy, movie nights, or gentle exercise classes, but sometimes the event list isn't heavy, so people can also participate in devotional activities, both on site and out, to keep up with spiritual habits as much as they like, and transportation is available for errands, doctor visits, and short trips out, which helps folks manage their routines without depending on family. Pets like cats and dogs are welcome, within reason, and there's parking for residents, complimentary rides when needed, and covered spots for cars, which is handy during the Arizona summers.

The facility keeps safety in mind with smoke restrictions indoors, wheelchair accessible showers, lifts for those who need help moving, and awake staff around the clock, and there's always a way to get support for bathing, dressing, bathroom help, or general wellbeing if it's needed, and they've got help with things like blood sugar checks or medicine management, too. Greenfields accepts private pay, social security, veteran's benefits, and private insurance for payment, and families can set up tours to walk through the community, speak with staff and residents, and get a good look at what life is like there, as the facility can serve up to 141 residents and is licensed as a large care community by the state of Arizona.

Overall, Greenfields Assisted Living covers what most people need whether they're looking for independent living with convenience, a little help here and there, or more steady support with memory or health care, so it's the sort of place where residents get to keep some independence but know that help is around whenever they need it, in a setting that's clean, maintained, and hasn't lost its friendliness over the years.
