    Beautiful resort, pricey disappointing golf

I love the spectacular mountain views, peaceful desert setting and friendly residents - the homes, restaurant patio and staff are top-notch and the food is often excellent. Golf, tennis and other amenities are appealing, but the greens/conditions and painfully slow play (rangers not enforcing pace) make it poor value for the price. Menu is limited and the kitchen gets a few dishes wrong; phone/contact and shopping access can be annoying. Overall I'd return for the scenery, community and food, but not if I'm paying premium for the golf.

    About The Preserve at SaddleBrooke

The Preserve at SaddleBrooke sits in north Tucson, Arizona, right at the foot of the Santa Catalina Mountains, and has scenic mountain and waterfront views that really stand out, so you notice them right away, and if you like being outdoors, you'll find hiking and biking trails winding through the desert along with pickleball courts, tennis courts, and a resort-style pool that folks use throughout the year, plus the community has a great 18-hole championship golf course with high desert elevation changes and sweeping vistas that are as pretty as you'll find anywhere in the area, and you can store RVs and boats on site for folks who travel or need the extra space, which is a real help.

The master-planned setup means you'll find many different houses, like single-family homes, townhomes, and condos, all with low-maintenance designs, modern finishes, and open floorplans, and some offer quick move-in for folks wanting to settle in fast, with large patios so residents can enjoy the Arizona weather while still being comfortable, and there are pet-friendly spaces for dog owners and their pets to enjoy.

The Preserve offers a gated entry for added security, and the community center, clubhouse, and fitness center serve as the heart of things, where residents and guests gather in comfortable rooms, including spaces with a fireplace and club chairs, and the clubhouse restaurant, The Preserve Restaurant, lets people dine indoors or al fresco with nice mountain views. People can join in arts and crafts, planned activities, interest groups, and classes, and there are clubhouses, studios, and social clubs scattered throughout the SaddleBrooke neighborhoods that people have the option to use, plus you get a learning/business center and easy access to lectures and social events.

Recreational options here seem endless, with things like softball, bocce ball, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits, and swimming pools and spas, not to mention walking trails and views of the golf greens and desert all around. The community makes laundry services, on-site management, transportation, and food service available, so life stays convenient, and designs ensure handicap accessibility for those who need it.

The Preserve at SaddleBrooke serves people aged 55 and up and offers several care types, including independent living with low maintenance, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, short-term nursing for rehabilitation, and a full Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) setup, which allows residents to adjust care as their needs change, though a buy-in fee is required. Specialized options such as an Alzheimer's Center and support with activities of daily living like dressing, grooming, medication management, cooking, and housekeeping are part of daily life for those who want or need help.

Residents often choose this place for the blend of active lifestyle, scenic desert views, security, and a strong focus on comfort and convenience, while builders and agents can find advertising opportunities, and those interested in new homes will find guides and design resources, so there's a sense that someone needing either a quiet, scenic home or a lively community can settle here, make friends, and enjoy what The Preserve at SaddleBrooke has to offer.
