Catalina Village Assisted Living sits on a five-acre park-like campus in Tucson, AZ, and serves adults aged 55 and older who want help with day-to-day living but value some independence, and though there's not a whole lot of fancy talk or extra information given, the place is licensed by the State of Arizona to care for up to 107 residents, offering private and semi-private rooms, and you'll find choices between studio and one-bedroom units, each with details on pricing, and the team of professionals here are known for patient care and being dedicated to residents' physical and emotional needs, aiming to provide safety and support while encouraging people to live as independently as possible. Dogs and cats are allowed under their pet-friendly policies, and people can expect home-cooked meals, including three daily dishes, with staff able to adjust menus for conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure, though they can't give insulin injections, and incontinent residents must handle their own incontinence, but otherwise help's on hand for bathing, getting dressed, and general grooming, with staff available all hours for those needs and medication management. There's transportation for the residents, even to doctor's visits or faith-based events, so those who don't drive have options, and parking's available for those who still do, and it's close to many neighborhood cafes, parks, and a nearby Walgreens, plus larger medical centers like Providence Service hospital and Tucson Orthopaedic Institute are not far away. The community allows for both indoor and outdoor social activities-folks can enjoy a fitness room, a game room, a library, and movie nights, and regular music programs, resident-run events, and crafts, plus special programs like music therapy and pet therapy, and there's always company in the indoor gathering spaces when people want to chat or play a board game. Catalina Village Assisted Living covers a range of care needs, including non-ambulatory care, diabetic care, incontinence care, and memory care for those with cognitive decline, with standby assistance if someone needs help getting from bed to a wheelchair, plus hospice and respite services are available when required, and there's always supervision to keep everyone safe, a 24-hour call system, with 12 to 16-hour nursing care on site. The place makes an effort to suit care and activities to individual residents, offering a choice between more independent living and a higher level of daily help, and the campus is designed to make life comfortable and pleasant, with extra touches like a mobile barber or hairdresser, comfortable yard spaces, and regular scheduled activities, though the specifics can change from time to time. This senior community suits people who want safety, help, meals, and a bit of company, but who still want to hold on to their routines, enjoy their pets, and make use of on-site activities and nearby neighborhood conveniences.

Warm community, but care issues
I live here and the community feels warm and homey - many staff are kind, hardworking and genuinely care, though a few have been rude or unhelpful and response times can be slow. Dementia care is inadequate; I regularly have to remind staff about basics and I've seen missed tasks like toilet paper, laundry, and bathroom messes left until cleaning day. The building is older and needs refurbishment - there's a urine odor in hallways, uneven pathways and poor lighting in places - but some remodeling is underway (new kitchen/dining, activity room). My apartment is spacious, the grounds are well kept, and the place is accessible with emergency buttons and a call system; housekeeping and linens are provided. Activities have increased and I join card games, beading and outings, but many are costly and limited by funds, and there's no transportation. Dining provides three meals a day (food OK but limited variety) and nursing coverage is solid (RN/LPN seven days, two NPs). Overall I feel welcomed and would recommend cautiously - affordable and community-minded, but it needs better dementia care, cleanliness and maintenance.
