    About Marshall Home for Men

Marshall Home for Men is a distinguished non-profit, state-licensed assisted living facility dedicated to serving men with limited means. Since its foundation in 1931, this establishment has stood as a safe haven for those facing difficult circumstances, providing not just shelter, but a genuine sense of home and companionship. The Marshall Home prides itself on fostering a nurturing, home-like atmosphere, offering both care and assistance to individuals who need extra support in daily living. Through unwavering commitment, the Home has woven itself into the fabric of the community, serving as both a refuge and a place of belonging.

The origins of the Marshall Home trace back to a time of widespread hardship during the Depression Era, when countless men struggled to find steady work. It began as a charitable effort on the Ryland Ranch, where men in need were welcomed with open arms, offered meals, shelter, and the warmth of camaraderie as they worked to regain their footing. In 1958, the Ryland Ranch was officially renamed The Marshall Home For Men, Inc., marking a significant turning point in its history. This new chapter was made possible through generous financial support from the Marshall Foundation, whose contributions enabled the addition of a new residential wing and secured the facility’s future as a trusted resource for men in need.

Continued growth and support have remained integral to the Marshall Home’s story. With further funding from individuals, corporations, and foundations, a second residential wing was constructed in the early 1970s. The addition of this wing expanded the Home’s capacity, allowing it to accommodate up to 52 residents at a time. The sense of stability offered by the Marshall Home has made it a vital sanctuary for a diverse group of men, many of whom are decorated military veterans now facing the vulnerabilities of age and circumstance.

The residents of Marshall Home for Men form a uniquely connected community, with the average age being around 60 years. Some come to stay only temporarily, seeking support during transitional periods in their lives, while many others choose to make the Home their long-term residence, creating bonds and memories that span decades. The commitment to creating a supportive, respectful environment is evident in every aspect of daily life at the facility, ensuring that each individual’s dignity and well-being are prioritized.

In addition to providing daily care and support, Marshall Home for Men actively fosters community involvement through fundraising events such as its annual Golf Tournament, held at the Oro Valley Golf Club. These events not only raise necessary funds to continue the Home’s mission but also strengthen community ties and celebrate the collective spirit that has defined Marshall Home for Men throughout its long-standing history.
