    Small, affordable care but limited

I placed my mother-in-law here and overall it's a lovely, small licensed home - very clean, well-maintained and beautifully landscaped with a secure fenced courtyard that's great for memory-impaired residents. The private studio rooms are neat and have a fridge/microwave, but many are small and feel like a converted motel. Caregivers were mostly kind, helpful with showers and daily needs, and the on-site manager was often responsive, which relieved a lot of stress. Meals are home-cooked three times a day with snacks, but variety and special diet options are limited and food is middling. Be aware there's no nurse on staff, doctors don't make rounds, no transport policy, and multiple reviewers reported staffing shortages, communication/medication and safety concerns. For peaceful, affordable, low-level care it's a good fit; I would not choose it for someone with complex medical needs.

About The Oasis Assisted Living Community

The Oasis Assisted Living Community in Tucson, AZ, sits at 2721 N. Oracle Road and has served the area since 1984 as a family-owned community, which probably means you'll see the same friendly faces around, since staff tend to stick around for years and they've got that helpful, joyful, and kind way about them that really helps people feel at home. Residents can pick from studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, or semi-private rooms, each with private bathrooms, cable TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and kitchenettes if someone likes to fix their own snacks now and then, and every room's got an emergency call system and 24-hour awake staff ready to help whenever something comes up. Meals are all included-three a day plus snacks-and they're cooked by a professional chef who takes special requests and is careful about allergies or health needs, so you'll see low-sodium and low-sugar choices, and people can enjoy their meals in a restaurant-style dining room, in their rooms, or outside on one of the patios if the weather's nice, which in Tucson, it usually is.

The grounds have walking paths, a community garden, shady patios, and plenty of comfortable chairs outside for people who like to watch the birds or just pass the time, and pets like dogs and cats are welcome, which is something not all places can handle, but here they've got space and outdoor common areas where you'll see residents with their dogs strolling around or just sitting together. The staff's always there, with nurses and medication managers around the clock, ready to help with bathing, dressing, grooming, incontinence care, medication management, blood sugar checks, even assistance with transfers for folks who need help getting from the bed to a wheelchair. There's a range of care options-light, medium, or heavy-so some folks need just a little standby help, maybe a reminder to take medicine, while others need more support, even complex nursing or behavioral management; they've even got a dedicated memory care building with secure alarms and bracelets for those who tend to wander, and plans designed just for memory care residents, so families tend to feel a bit more at ease.

The Oasis runs activities all day, every day, so nobody really needs to sit alone unless that's what they'd like; there are art classes, movie nights, trivia games, music with the piano, a library and media room, lots of social and recreational events like yoga and fitness programs, plus faith-based devotional groups, birthday parties, holiday events, outings, and intergenerational programs that keep life feeling active no matter your age. An activity director plans it all, making sure there's always something going on both inside and outside, so friendships have a way of happening naturally. Folks can even join day trips or ride along on errands thanks to transportation services, and if someone doesn't drive anymore, that's not a worry-they'll take people where they need to go and there's parking for those who still do.

For daily needs, Oasis offers housekeeping, laundry, and dry cleaning, so residents don't need to worry about chores piling up, and there's a concierge if anyone's got a question. Devotional services happen onsite for anyone interested, and the place recognizes holidays and birthdays, which can mean a lot over the years. The community allows outdoor smoking, has Wi-Fi throughout, is wheelchair accessible, and has respite and hospice services too, so people with changing or serious health care needs can stay put without needing to move somewhere unfamiliar. Payment options are set up for private pay, social security, veteran's benefits, or through commercial insurance, and there are some added fees for things like extra residents or certain care needs, so families can ask about that when they're looking around. The Oasis is a good fit for people 55 and older who want an active lifestyle with choices each day, a safe environment, and kind people nearby, whether someone just wants a little help or needs regular support with things like memory care or skilled nursing.
