    Supportive staff, beautiful grounds, recommended

I moved my parent here and I'm very pleased - the staff are overwhelmingly supportive and go the extra mile, the dining is restaurant-quality with a huge variety, and there are nonstop activities plus miles of walking paths through gorgeous, bird-filled grounds. Apartments are spacious, maintenance and move-in help were responsive, on-site clinic/skilled nursing provides peace of mind, and residents are welcoming so my parent made friends quickly. It's on the pricey side and there have been occasional staffing/unprofessional lapses and some post-COVID service declines, but overall the community, care, and surroundings make this a place I'd recommend.

    About Royal Oaks

Royal Oaks sits on an 18.5-acre hillside estate along the Duarte and Bradbury border, surrounded by green lawns, walking paths beneath oak trees, and nice gardens with views of the San Gabriel Mountains, and the community has room for up to 250 residents, offering a wide range of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, adult day care, and skilled nursing services with a full continuum of healthcare support, so residents can move between care levels without needing to leave the community, which means plans can change but people can stay in familiar surroundings among staff and neighbors they recognize. The licensed California facility, #191502216, features modern apartments and cottage homes, most with private bathrooms, walk-in closets, patios or balconies, and washer/dryer units, and you'll find suites, studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts available, all scattered through well-kept grounds with plenty of places to sit and walk. Royal Oaks has a secure, homelike environment, with a special memory garden and a program focused on person-centered support for people with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, plus they have security measures and health screenings, and can serve meals in residents' rooms during health emergencies.

Amenities are extensive, including a swimming pool, putting green, fitness center, arts studio, card and billiards rooms, a library, beauty/barber shop with an on-site hairdresser, and a cozy residents lounge, with inviting, nutritious meals served in a dining room by polite staff, and there's even a bistro for coffee or chatting with others. Staff provide 24/7 nursing care, medication management, and personalize support, responding right away to health needs and emergencies, and there's occupational, physical, and speech therapies, along with rehabilitation, laundry services, and regular wellness checks. Pets are welcome, and for those who enjoy being outdoors, there's safe walking paths and well-landscaped gardens, so folks who like a breath of fresh air or a gentle stroll can always find a quiet spot to sit or move around. Royal Oaks also offers regular activities and organized social outings, water aerobics classes, and special events to help residents meet and make friends, with lots of options to stay active in body and mind. The facility sits in a neighborhood with plenty nearby, including a hospital, pharmacies, medical groups, cafes, and parks, giving everyone access to outside services and family outings if needed. Services at Royal Oaks come from HumanGood.org, and there's a media gallery to view life at the community. The staff aim to keep things comfortable, safe, and familiar, looking after residents' needs while promoting privacy and a sense of home.
