    Private room, friendly staff, unclean

I moved my mom here and appreciated the private room (we could bring our own furniture), the convenient location, and the friendly, live-in admin and family - staff went above and beyond to make her comfortable and even my husband and dog liked the place. However, the facility often felt unclean and smelly, the food sometimes seemed rotten, some residents appeared unattended, the move was confusing, and I wish there were more activities and clearer one-on-one care.

    About Liberty Home

Liberty Home sits on Effingham Drive in Huntington Beach and you'll see right away it's a smaller place, just 6 units, so folks get more personal attention, and you notice the grounds are tidy with some pleasant landscaping out front and a safe entrance for anybody who needs handrails or a ramp or things like that, which helps a lot if you've got mobility issues. This place covers both independent living and assisted living so it's right for people who're still pretty active or folks who need help with daily chores like making meals, taking a shower, or handling laundry or cleaning up, and residents who need extra help with remembering things, like for Alzheimer's or dementia, can get memory care services too, although those services are pricier just like everywhere else. You'll get nurses on staff around the clock, ongoing health checks, regular personal care help, and even dental care if you need it, and when something breaks in your room someone from maintenance is on call, which is important because nobody likes waiting around for repairs, especially if you've got a leaky faucet or anything that could make things slippery or unsafe. Most rooms and common areas have safety bars and call buttons in case there's an emergency. You'll find a community dining room where folks tend to gather for daily meals, and the cooking here aims for nutrition, focusing on good ingredients with the right vitamins and minerals, which matters when you want to feel your best. Two meals are typically served each day, and laundry and housekeeping get taken care of for you, which takes a load off your mind, plus there are laundry facilities if you'd rather do things yourself, and someone comes by for regular maid service. For people who like to stay active and meet others, there are wellness programs, social activities, and sometimes transportation if you need a ride to the store or to a medical appointment, and there's shopping and medical clinics close by so trips aren't far. Residents can bring their pets if they're close to them, which adds a bit of comfort to the place, and staff are known to be attentive, often working hard to keep folks comfortable and engaged, whether helping with medication management or just offering support during the day. Payment for memory care services can sometimes use Medicaid, Medicare, social security disability, or caregiver support programs, and the facility designs care plans to fit each person's needs, which helps keep life steady and a bit easier whether you're there for the independence or because you need more hands-on support as the years go by.
