    Friendly staff, sunny apartment, cramped

I liked the amazing, helpful staff and friendly residents, and my private, freshly decorated apartment with lots of natural light felt bright and comfortable. The well-maintained exterior, many nicely decorated communal areas, easy layout, and active programs (yoga, aerobics, outdoor time) make it easy to stay mobile; dining is restaurant-style with diet options and healthy snacks but the meals still need improvement. Despite the positives, the place can feel a bit confined, so I wouldn't recommend it.

    About Bella Vista

Bella Vista, a senior living community in the North Central neighborhood of Pasadena, CA, opened in 1984 and is family owned and operated, offering both assisted living and memory care services for up to 72 residents under California License #197608297. The facility's cared for plenty of people over the years, and it shows with a supportive environment that helps each resident stay as independent as possible while getting help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication management. There's 24-hour trained staff and nursing supervision for 12-16 hours each day, along with an emergency call system in every room and a delayed egress system so everyone stays safe, especially those who may wander. People with mobility challenges find wheelchair access and transfer help, and the staff also gives non-ambulatory and incontinence care, diabetic support, and home care by aides who help with non-medical needs and companionship.

Residents get three nutritious meals a day plus morning, afternoon, and evening snacks, made by a professional chef with meal options for those with allergies or diabetes, and you can eat restaurant-style or with all-day dining in the main dining room. Laundry, dry cleaning, housekeeping, and linen services come included, and rooms are furnished with kitchenettes, private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable TV, telephones, and Wi-Fi, so folks feel at home. Bella Vista's community spaces include a library, movie room, arts and activity rooms, a business room, music programs, a fitness room, a wellness and spa room, a game room, outdoor walking paths, a courtyard, and gardens where you can spend quiet time or socialize.

Transportation is set up for medical appointments, errands, or group field trips, and there's always a daily calendar of activities, from community-sponsored or resident-led events to arts, exercises, devotional activities, offsite gatherings, and wellness programs meant to engage everyone physically and mentally. Residents have access to top hospitals and hospice care if it's ever needed and a respite program for short-term stays. Bella Vista offers independent, assisted, and memory care settings, as well as nursing and continuing care options for those living in one place as needs change. There's also support for developmental disabilities and a collection of resources for assistive devices, care guides, and even tools for managing personal health records.

Protections against housing and employment discrimination are in place, with rights for people regardless of income, gender identity, or orientation. The facility does its best to help folks apply for financial assistance, including the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW) program. With English-speaking staff on hand at all hours, Bella Vista provides a steady environment with structure and support, aiming to keep each person's dignity and comfort at the center, letting people age with dignity in a familiar community.
