    Caring staff, clean, small rooms

I chose this place for its Chinese-focused, accommodating staff-caregivers are experienced, long-tenured, and very family-friendly, and the facility is clean and reasonably priced. I'm happy with the care, but the rooms are small, the building feels shabby, and I have concerns about neighborhood safety.

    About Merced Residential Care

Merced Residential Care sits in Daly City and San Francisco, California and cares for seniors who want their own space but need some extra help with daily tasks, and there are three locations-Merced Broad, Merced Hampshire, and Merced Girard, each with 14 licensed beds, so the community stays medium-sized and close-knit, which gives a bit of a homelike feel. The community serves older adults who need different levels of assistance, whether that's light help with medication, hygiene, and meals, or medium support like transferring in and out of beds or wheelchairs, and the staff can do one-person and two-person assisted transfers, and they use mechanical lifts when needed. Every resident gets a care plan tailored to their needs, plus there's incontinence care with reminders and help for those who need it, and diabetic care including monitoring blood sugar and insulin injections, even on a sliding scale. Seniors who have memory problems, including dementia or Alzheimer's, can stay here too, and the staff provides 24-hour awake supervision and supports residents with activities designed to keep them active and engaged, and there's help available for those in need of hospice or respite care as well.

Meals come with living here, and the facility serves seniors with indoor common areas where residents can socialize, join activities, or just sit with others, and the place is wheelchair accessible throughout, including the bathrooms and showers, which means people with mobility problems shouldn't have trouble getting around. There's complimentary transportation if someone needs to go somewhere offsite, and devotional services happen outside the property for those interested. The community allows outdoor smoking in designated areas, so residents can smoke outside if they want. Every resident has a private room, and some studios may even have a kitchenette, so people can have a little space of their own. Merced Residential Care focuses on comfort, safety, and dignity for seniors, and it's kept up by licensed staff who are available around the clock, including CNAs, LPNs, LVNs, and RNs, supported by regular surveys conducted by local groups like the Department of Aging or Veteran's Services, which helps the facility advocate for residents. The care here doesn't include Medicare payments unless the place gets certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. There are employment openings for various caregiving and nursing jobs, and the facility wants to provide peace of mind to families by keeping loved ones safe and cared for. Community reviews give an average rating of 6 out of 10, and families can look up more on neighborhood exploration features for more information about the area or what it's like to live at one of their locations.
