    Good care despite management issues

I love it here and would definitely recommend it - the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, the coordinator and counter staff are responsive and accommodating, and the furnished rooms are well-maintained and roomy enough for one with lots of activities. That said, management is disorganized and under-resourced; I've seen cleanliness and maintenance concerns, even bed bugs with residents bitten, which poses a real safety risk and needs extermination and new leadership to avoid worse. Overall I get excellent, compassionate care despite serious organizational problems that must be fixed.

    About New Horizon Senior Living

New Horizon Senior Living sits in a quiet, well-established neighborhood with a peaceful setting and plenty of local shops around, like CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks, and In-N-Out Burger, so residents and their families find outings pretty easy, and you'll see a map location showing exactly where it is, plus a photo gallery that helps to get a sense of the place and what's offered inside. The facility holds a license from the state of California as a Residential Care Elderly community, known on paper as a provider for Assisted Living Waiver Program (ALW), and the license number is 306000502, which means it can care for up to 120 individuals.

The care team includes certified nursing assistants, med tech support, and a friendly staff that people often mention as helpful and joyful. Residents get 12 to 16 hours of nursing support as well as a 24-hour call system so someone's always there when needed, and there's 24-hour supervision for everyone living there, whether they need help with bathing, dressing, medication, or other daily routines. Services cover home health care, assisted living, memory care, nursing home services, independent living, and even long-term care, with different care levels to fit what each person really needs. New Horizon also accepts the ALW program that helps make affordable housing and necessary health services possible for seniors on Medi-Cal.

The building has indoor common spaces for activities, and daily life enrichment is a big part of the schedule, with devotional events, group exercises, games, library time, and offsite trips that help residents stay connected and engaged. Residents make use of property features like a game room, fitness center, and a library, and get nutritious meals cooked to support a balanced diet with fresh and quality ingredients. Rooms are spacious, with air conditioning and phones, and can come furnished if needed, though that comes with its own fee. Laundry and housekeeping services run weekly. There's a focus on medication management and careful individual care plans, so every resident gets monitoring that fits their specific health and comfort needs.

Community-operated transportation's available, and there's free parking, making it simple for families to visit or get around. The grounds connect to nearby parks for outdoor activities and offer a calm atmosphere for peaceful afternoons. Staff offer support for non-ambulatory, diabetic, and incontinent residents, and there's a structured way to assess how much care someone may need as their needs change. Job opportunities exist for caregiving and med tech roles as well. New Horizon Senior Living offers a referral program for those interested. The goal of the staff and the mission of the community is to provide good service and attention in an environment that's clean, safe, and as comfortable as possible for everyone living there.
