    Clean facility but orders ignored

The facility is clean and seems well staffed with hardworking nurses and PCAs, but my mother suffered a health setback because doctors' orders weren't followed, management was unresponsive, and language barriers/inattentive staff undermined her care.

    About Tustin Care Center

Tustin Care Center sits at 1051 Bryan Ave in Tustin, CA, and helps seniors who need daily medical attention or have trouble moving on their own, with around 88 residents out of 99 beds filled most days, and it's not part of a hospital or a continuing care retirement community, just a stand-alone nursing home that's owned by a for-profit corporation with multiple care home locations. They've got Medicare certification, take Medicaid, and you'll find all 99 beds are certified and the place has fire sprinklers throughout, though you won't find recent online scores for quality measures, nurse staffing, or health inspections, and the most recent Medicare score is 1 out of 5 stars. Some folks move in for assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, hospice care, or even short-term respite, and the center's got a focus on memory care and Alzheimer's, with a locked and alarmed community so residents don't wander off and plenty of supervision day and night. Staff gives help with everyday things like dressing, eating, bathing, bathroom trips, and moving from room to room, and you'll find nurses providing help and medication management during the day plus a call system that's staffed 24 hours.

The building has private or shared rooms, and rooms come furnished with private bathrooms, cable TV, phone, kitchenettes, and Wi-Fi, so folks can settle in how they like it, and there's help for nutrition needs or diabetes or allergy diets, with a chef preparing three meals a day, sometimes catering to Korean food preferences if someone wants that, and they'll bring in a traveling hairdresser, too. Family and resident councils are active, and folks who live there or visit help guide things, and there's always a way to see the place with scheduled tours to meet staff and residents. There's also housekeeping, laundry, and move-in help, and you've got things like movie nights in the community theater, arts and crafts, music, outdoor walking paths, garden spaces, a reading room, a fitness area, and even a spa and hot tub if you feel up for it. Activities are set up every day, ranging from workout routines, music plans, pet therapy, tabletop games, social nights, and even creative projects, and there's help getting to doctor's appointments or local shops or church if you need a ride.

While Tustin Care Center doesn't have a fancy high rating, it does cover most of the main needs for seniors who need a safe place, medical care, and a quiet environment with 24/7 help, and it's right near area hospitals and pharmacies like Walgreens, CVS, and Albertsons, so family visits are simple, and the staff can get outside medical support when needed. Specialized services like psychiatry and physical therapy are on hand, and the center runs specific programs for memory loss with structured routines to help keep folks active and secure. The building supports non-ambulatory residents, and has hospice care and end-of-life care if that's needed. There are plenty of family supports, a secured setting, and help with bathing, dressing, bathroom use, and medication, providing a steady, familiar environment for seniors who can't live at home. The beginning price for memory care is $4,500 per month, but there isn't much information online, so most people set up a tour to see what it's really like and talk to staff face to face.
