Highland Assisted Living LLC is a small assisted living home with a license for five residents, which helps keep things personal and calm, and it's got these private rooms, some with shared bathrooms, while others have their own private baths, including bathtubs for comfort, and people can use the common indoor and outdoor areas where there are walking paths and gardens that are good for getting some fresh air or just relaxing. Residents get 24-hour supervision from awake staff members, and certified caregivers can help with all sorts of care needs, like bathing, dressing, incontinence care, wound care, medication management, and even more complex situations like diabetes, Parkinson's disease, catheter care, or memory issues like dementia or Alzheimer's, so folks get the right help no matter how their health changes over time. The memory care section sits in a separate, secure building, and staff use technology like wandering alert bracelets with alarms to keep people safe if they try to go where they shouldn't be wandering, and that helps families feel more at ease. Staff have training to handle high acuity care, and they can give insulin shots, use equipment like Hoyer lifts for transfers, manage diabetic and special diets, and support residents who need a lot of help moving around, including those who use wheelchairs or walkers. People living here get help with daily living activities, reminders for grooming and toileting, three meals each day (plus snacks), and special food options for vegetarians, those with allergies, or diabetic needs, made with quality ingredients, and there's a dining room available with the option for all-day dining. Highland Assisted Living offers both long-term stays and short stays for respite, taking residents under 55 if needed, and even supports those with major behavioral problems in its memory care building, which is built with secure grounds, an alarm system, and a computerized wandering alert system that quickly notifies staff if anyone tries to leave a safe area. The place offers transportation services, laundry, housekeeping, dry cleaning, beautician services on-site, and indoor activities like movie nights and exercise programs, plus the grounds are wheelchair accessible, with secure outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy. Staff can help people move from bed to wheelchair (even with mechanical assistance), and the environment aims to feel like home with a layout made for comfort, furnished rooms, and community activities that keep folks socially and mentally active. The community has won recognition like Best of Senior Living and Best of Senior Living All Star, and many in the local area know folks here are treated with respect and warmth, since the staff are kind, friendly, and committed to high-quality care. Highland Assisted Living doesn't take Medicare payment unless certified by CMS, but it offers placement assistance for assisted living or memory care at no additional cost, and is open to answering questions or showing families around during their listed contact hours. The main thing is that each resident gets personalized care, regular attention, and supervision in a safe and quiet setting that allows maximum independence, along with companionship and engaging activities to support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing as needs change over the years.
Clean, friendly staff; not ideal.
I found the facility clean, the staff friendly and caring, and Emmie (the owner) personable - the food was good and overall care left me satisfied. It did feel cluttered and dark and isn't suited for more active residents, so it wasn't what I was looking for.
