About Southern Utah Veterans Home – Ivins

Southern Utah Veterans Home - Ivins sits at the base of Red Mountain in Ivins, Utah, and people will notice right away there are nine separate home-like communities here, each with large private suites and private bathrooms, and there are plenty of open outdoor spaces and inviting common areas so folks can enjoy the fresh air and gather with family and friends, and the rooms are set up to let people keep their independence and comfort, while staff work to keep everyone safe and looked after. This place has a total of 108 certified beds with about 104 people living there most days, and there's always licensed staff around because they put in about 5.65 nurse hours for every resident, every day, though they do have a nurse turnover rate of 41.4% as of their last records. The management and ownership come from Avalon Health Care, which follows a five-star quality care model, and they update each resident's care assessment every three months, making sure they adjust plans as needs change.

You'll find several levels of care here, including independent living, assisted living, long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, secure memory care for people with cognitive problems, home care, adult day services, home health care, and hospice care, so folks can stay even as their needs grow. There's a therapy gym for rehab, large multi-purpose rooms for events, and natural landscaping with private gardens to get outside. They offer personalized 24-hour skilled nursing care, and they have special services for veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star Parents. The pain management program includes aromatherapy, Music and Memory, and luxury spa services, which might help residents feel a bit more comfortable, and there's regular access to licensed pharmacists and full pharmaceutical services. Folks here also get wound care, orthopedic care, post-stroke rehab, medication management, diabetes care, IV and respiratory services, and hospice support, plus all the day-to-day help you'd expect in a retirement community.

The community focuses on creating a warm, friendly place that upholds dignity and tries to bring some joy to life, and they run programs and amenities especially for veterans, including veteran-focused activities and support. There's organized resident and family councils where people can speak up about care quality. Medicare and Medicaid pay for care here, and as of June 2025, there are four beds available. Southern Utah Veterans Home - Ivins is a for-profit place, and inspection reports show four deficiencies, including infection control issues that staff have to address. The place has all sorts of room setups and amenities for different needs, and it's meant for senior and veteran populations who may require everything from active adult living to memory care or serious medical services, and the staff here get training to handle all those things.
