    Warm family home, great food

I found the home warm and family-like with gorgeous grounds, relaxing views, spacious private rooms, very clean spaces, and wonderful home-grown, nutritious cooking. Staff were generally caring, responsive and helpful with meals, but I noticed few staff at times, some training/patient-care concerns, a depressing quiet vibe, tight room layouts for mobility, and a scary access road. Overall I would recommend it for the atmosphere and food, but advise checking mobility needs and staff oversight first.

    About The Heights Senior Care

The Heights Senior Care in La Habra Heights, California, sits on 690 Picaacho Drive and offers a wide variety of services all focused on making life easier and more comfortable for seniors, with care options ranging from Independent Living and Assisted Living to Memory Care, Adult Day Services, Home Care, and even more specialized care like hospice and skilled nursing, so seniors and their families can explore different types of support as needs change, and if someone's looking for a residential experience, they have both Board and Care Home services and Adult Care Homes where only up to ten residents live in a house-like setting and receive personal care, meals, and activities in a close-knit environment.

The community supports active seniors with independent living, providing amenities like housekeeping, daily meal programs, transportation, laundry services, and plenty of social and wellness activities, which usually suits those starting at age 55 or 62 who want to keep busy but need a little help now and then, while Assisted Living offers help with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, medication management, and even getting from bed to chair if required, with 24-hour supervision and staff ready to assist around the clock, so residents can feel safe. There are chef-prepared meals, vegetarian and kosher options, snacks and drinks always available, and staff who also offer to go along to medical appointments and activities, with transportation and guest parking for visitors.

For those needing Memory Care, especially for Alzheimer's disease or dementia, the community has specialized programs and staff trained to support memory and keep residents safe, along with structured activities meant to help with memory and social engagement, and families should know that, like everywhere, the cost of this care can run much higher due to the intensive nature of support. There's also home health care (including Medicare-certified health care), respite programs for short stays, and incontinence and diabetic care, plus planned on-site and offsite activities, arts and crafts, religious services, exercise classes, movie nights, game nights, and options for both indoor and outdoor common areas like walking paths and gardens, so residents have the chance to stay active and meet new friends.

Rooms can be private or shared, each equipped with an emergency call button and safety features, and there are wheelchair accessible showers, furnished rooms, housekeepings, laundry, and dining room facilities that are suited for dietary needs like allergies and diabetes. Residents have community spaces for social events and entertainment, plus amenities meant to enhance comfort and support independence, like emergency alert systems, phone access in rooms, and support and referrals. The Heights Senior Care's website has a map feature to help with location and also provides expert articles for seniors and caregivers to learn about different care types, and everything's licensed by the state for peace of mind, with the focus always on offering a mix of care, safety, and activities to help seniors thrive in a friendly environment.
