    Beautiful resort-like community, recommend cautiously

I toured and placed a loved one here - the community is beautiful, very clean and resort-like, staff are warm, attentive and engaged, the chef and activities team are excellent, and residents seem happy and social. It's pricey and there are occasional staffing, billing or management hiccups (and a few serious care concerns reported in memory care), so I recommend it but advise asking detailed questions and monitoring care closely.

    About Oakmont of the Lakes

Oakmont of the Lakes stands on beautiful, lush grounds with walking paths and gardens that seniors can enjoy anytime, and you'll find lovely views to look at in every direction, which really makes the place feel peaceful, and some small pets are allowed too if you have one you want to bring along. This family-owned community offers several kinds of living arrangements, including independent living for active seniors, assisted living for those who need help with daily tasks, memory care for people with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia, and short- or long-term skilled nursing in partnership with El Jen Convalescent & Retirement Hospital, which has private and semi-private rooms for up to 70 people, so it really covers a broad range of care needs right there on the same campus. They have both studios and one-bedroom apartments, plus some semi-private rooms and companion suites for those who need a more affordable or social setting, and all apartments have kitchenettes, walk-in closets, private bathrooms, cable or satellite TV, and emergency call systems, so there's a good amount of comfort and safety, and if someone just wants the basics, there are options for accessible and no-frills senior apartments, while those with greater needs can rely on fully staffed neighborhoods too.

Meals are provided every day, with dining that's earned awards and is run by a professional chef and culinary team using healthy, good-quality ingredients, and there are indoor and outdoor restaurant-style dining areas, which lets people enjoy meals alone or with friends, plus a bistro area for relaxing in the memory care section where folks can sit and talk comfortably, and a private movie theater with a popcorn machine for nights when movies and popcorn sound nice. A salon and day spa are right on site, along with a wellness center, so there's always space to keep up with self-care or just visit with neighbors, and the grounds have sitting areas, a resident garden, and a gazebo surrounded by flowers for peaceful outdoor time, especially in the memory care garden.

Staff are available 24 hours a day to help with personal care, medication management, bathing, getting dressed, walking, and using a wheelchair-whatever a resident might need to keep life manageable and safe, and there's a full-time nurse on site plus physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as wound care, diabetic monitoring, hospice care, and help with insulin or other medication. If you need transportation to appointments or activities off campus, there's a free service, and the facility is licensed by the state. There's a focus on keeping everyone active and engaged, so you'll find activity and recreational programs, a rehabilitation gym with exercise equipment, adult day care, and a regular schedule of social, physical, and mental activities, as well as educational resources like books, a blog, podcasts, and webinars for seniors and caregivers.

Oakmont of the Lakes also supports caregiver needs with resources and helps adults 55 and over, with a flexible approach for different stages of aging, offering home care and companionship if someone still lives at home, and memory care with housing and therapy to reduce confusion and prevent wandering. The property is wheelchair friendly, with accessible features and plenty of parking, and they really pay attention to details like cozy sitting areas, fireplaces, bookshelves, tasteful decor, and comfortable lounges that give the whole campus a warm, home-like atmosphere. This community has won awards for its meals, activities, and friendliness, and the team seems to care about making things easy, safe, and as pleasant as possible.
