    About Sun City Summerlin

Sun City Summerlin sits on 2,400 acres with views of both mountains and the Las Vegas Strip, and folks usually notice right away that the area's got low humidity so there aren't bugs like fleas or mosquitoes, which sure makes being outside more pleasant. This is a 55+ active adult community, and there are 7,779 homes built by Del Webb, including single-family homes in 24 models and attached townhomes in 18 models, where places run from about 1,007 to 3,212 square feet, usually with 2 to 3 bedrooms and bathrooms. There are four community centers-Desert Vista, Mountain Shadows, Pinnacle, and Sun Shadows-which all have meeting rooms, fitness centers, and club spaces, and you'll find free WiFi at the main centers plus a library with an Internet kiosk if you like to read or need a computer now and then. Folks who like to keep moving might enjoy the aerobics and dance studio, indoor and outdoor pools (even an Olympic-sized one), heated spas, a bunch of bocce ball, shuffleboard, and tennis courts (with lights if you want to play in the evening), and a mini golf course.

Each of the clubhouses has something special, like the indoor racquetball court at Mountain Shadows or the heated indoor pool at Sun Shadows, but no matter where you go, you'll see people joining in on clubs and group activities, since there are eight recreational clubs and the Mountain Shadows club's known to be popular. There are card rooms, hobby and game rooms, ballrooms for bigger events, and even the Starbright Theatre for live performances or entertainment nights. The community's got three golf courses-Highland Falls, Palm Valley, and Eagle Crest-with professional instruction available and several golf groups, and the courses get overseeded so the grass looks and plays well year-round. There are restaurants within the community if you want to dine close by, and since Sun City Summerlin is part of the bigger Summerlin area, shopping, dining, resorts, and casinos are just a short drive away. For outdoor activities, there are tree-lined streets, lots of green belt areas, and an extensive system of walking trails that link up parks like The Paseos, The Vistas, and The Trails, with pool amenities in South and Vistas parks if you want to swim outside too. The Sun City Summerlin Community Association helps keep the neighborhoods well-tended, and there's a special Ironwood Homeowners Association to look after that section. Every facility and club has its own features, and the community's set up for people looking to stay active and social as they get older, while the elevation around 3,000 feet means it stays a little cooler than down on the Strip, which most folks seem to appreciate during the summer months.
